All the classroom's a stage....

Welcome!

This is my first attempt at blogging, so we shall see how this goes over the next few weeks.  My blog title comes from Shakespeare's As You Like It, and I feel it accurately describes how most teachers see themselves.  The following four lines pretty much describe a day in my 6th grade English classroom:

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts.

Most days are spent performing for not only students but also for the powers-that-be!  Any teacher will know to whom I refer.  We as teachers are merely actors on a stage (classroom) who in our time (before glorious retirement) will play many parts (educator, lesson planner, lesson modifier, lesson faker, paper grader, room cleaner upper, hall monitor, occasional jokester, story teller, line leader, room decorator, desk organizer, hand sanitizer distributor, comforter, disciplinarian, movie justifier, confidant, "mean teacher who hates me," etc).

So, here goes nothing....we'll see where this blog leads me....or if I can manage to find time to keep it updated in my free time away from the stage on which I'm merely a player....we shall see....
